What Is European Handicap?
European Handicap is a three-way football market where a virtual goal handicap is applied, but the adjusted result can still be home win, draw or away win.
Basic Logic
The handicap is applied first, then the adjusted score is treated like a normal 1X2 market. Unlike Asian Handicap, a draw after the handicap is not a refund. It is a separate outcome.
What 1, X and 2 Mean
- 1 means the home team wins after the handicap is applied.
- X means the adjusted score is a draw.
- 2 means the away team wins after the handicap is applied.
Example With a Favourite
If you pick Barcelona -1 European Handicap, Barcelona must win by at least two goals. A 1-0 win becomes 0-0 after the handicap, so the team pick loses and the handicap draw wins.
European vs Asian Handicap
Whole-number Asian Handicap lines can return the stake. European Handicap keeps three outcomes, so it can offer bigger prices but usually carries more risk.
